Prerequisites
- An account on Inkeep to manage and provide the RAG.
uv Python project manager installed.
Local Setup

Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/inkeep/mcp-server-python.git

Navigate to the project directory:
cd mcp-server-python

Create a virtual environment using uv:
uv venv

Install the required dependencies:
uv pip install -r pyproject.toml

Note the full path of the project directory. This will be referred to as <YOUR_INKEEP_MCP_SERVER_ABSOLUTE_PATH> in later steps.
Get an API Key
- Log in to the Inkeep Dashboard.
- Navigate to the Projects section and select your project.
- Open the Integrations tab.
- Click
Create Integration and choose API from the options.
- Enter a Name for your new API integration.
- Click on
Create.
- A generated API key will appear. This will be referred to as
<YOUR_INKEEP_API_KEY> in later steps.
Add to Your MCP Client

Follow the steps in the guide to set up Claude Desktop.
